A contemplative art workshop
For those craving a little time for themselves, curious to learn something new, and wanting to enjoy the process of creating.
In this workshop, we will explore botanical drawing and watercolour, using living plants and flowers as our inspiration. We will combine the structure of pencil and ink drawing with the freedom and fluidity of watercolour.
No previous experience is required. Beginners with a playful mindset and a hunger to learn are very welcome.
We will begin with a series of simple drawing exercises, exploring line, composition, and the intuitive process of deciding what stays in the image and what we leave out. Through repetition, the hand and mind start to gain confidence, and we slowly let go of the fear of making mistakes.
From there, we will select some of our drawings and begin working with pen, carefully choosing the lines that will become part of the final image.
The final stage is watercolour. We will experiment with different amounts of paint and water, allowing ourselves to play and discover how we like the medium to behave. Some of our favourite works might come from the drawings we liked the least at the beginning. Sometimes, the unexpected turns into something beautiful.
We will finish by selecting the works we connect with most. It can be surprising to discover that what one person loves might be completely different from someone else's favourite.
If you wish, we can add a phrase, word, or personal meaning to your final piece, making it something a little more personal to you.
More than learning a technique, this workshop is an invitation to slow down, be curious, and enjoy the act of making. A space where craft and introspection can meet, and where we can connect with ourselves and with others through the simple experience of creating.
